To keep StayKedarnath secure, respectful, and fully functional as a leading hospitality platform, everyone—partners, pilgrims, and our team—must follow the same strict rules. From basic cleanliness at high altitudes to ethical bookings, these are the standards we uphold.
Respect
We expect our guests and partners to treat each other and the valley with profound respect. The Kedar Valley is one of India's most sacred pilgrimage sites, and honoring its spiritual significance is mandatory. This means zero tolerance for the consumption of alcohol, narcotics, or prohibited substances anywhere on partner properties. We also strictly prohibit any form of unlawful bias, discrimination, harassment, or abuse based on race, religion, gender, or physical ability. Respecting the peace of the valley means treating everyone with dignity during all interactions and maintaining low noise levels, specifically after 9:00 PM when tired pilgrims are trying to sleep.
Trust
Trust is the foundation of any thriving community and is the key to fostering long-term relationships within the travel community. We emphasize honesty, transparency, and integrity in all interactions and transactions. The accommodation you see on StayKedarnath must be rigorously accurate. Hosts cannot upload misleading photos, misrepresent available amenities, or demand arbitrary off-platform cash fees. We strive to create an honest and professional environment where commitments are honored, descriptions are accurate, and customers conduct business safely without hidden surprises.
Safety
Safety and security are paramount to promoting travel experiences and interactions that are free from danger, harm or threats. This includes the physical and psychological safety of an individual and the security of the property. We expect our guests and partners to adhere to the safety and security guidelines. Putting a customer's physical safety at risk via unsecured structures or hazardous wooden staircases is unacceptable. Furthermore, both hosts and guests must provide accurate identities; booking under false names or refusing mandatory Uttarakhand police verification puts the entire ecosystem at risk.
Privacy & Cleanliness
Privacy includes protection against unauthorized intrusion into a guest's room or personal space. Secretly monitoring guests in private spaces via hidden cameras is strictly forbidden and results in an immediate ban. At 11,000 feet, basic sanitation and warmth are medical necessities. All partner properties must meet a baseline standard of high-altitude hospitality. Heavy blankets, quilts, and bedsheets must be regularly laundered; providing damp bedding is unacceptable. Bathrooms must be sanitized before check-in, with plumbing actively monitored.
Animal welfare
We don't tolerate animal cruelty and exploitation. The Kedarnath trek relies heavily on mules and pack ponies. We only list properties or services if they meet specific criteria, ensuring that animals are treated ethically. Partners must respect both domestic and pack animals, ensuring their living conditions and burden weights meet our strict animal welfare standards as dictated by the district veterinary boards.
