Official Yatra Scam Alerts
Every year, hundreds of pilgrims fall victim to sophisticated online frauds promising VIP darshan, fake helicopter tickets, or non-existent hotel bookings. StayKedarnath is committed to protecting your hard-earned money. Read these critical warnings before making any payments.
1. Fake Helicopter Ticket Portals
Fraudsters create websites that look identically like Pawan Hans or Uttarakhand civil aviation portals. They advertise on Google and Facebook offering "Immediate VIP Helicopter Tickets" from Phata, Guptkashi, or Sirsi.
How to stay safe:
- The ONLY official website for booking Kedarnath helicopter tickets is heliyatra.irctc.co.in.
- Never pay anyone promising tickets via WhatsApp, Telegram, or personal UPI numbers.
- StayKedarnath does NOT sell helicopter tickets directly and will never ask you to transfer money for them.
2. "QR Code" Refund Scams
If you cancel a booking due to weather closures, scammers may call you claiming to be from "StayKedarnath Support". They will ask you to scan a QR code or enter your UPI PIN to "receive the refund".
How to stay safe:
- You never need to enter a UPI PIN or scan a QR code to receive money. PINs are only used to SEND money.
- All StayKedarnath refunds are processed automatically back to the original payment method without any manual action required from you.
3. Fake Off-Platform Homestays
Scammers often copy photos from real StayKedarnath listings and post them on social media at extremely cheap rates. When you arrive in Sonprayag, you will find the booking was completely fake and the scammer's phone is switched off.
How to stay safe:
- Always complete your bookings and payments strictly inside the StayKedarnath app or website.
- If a host asks you to cancel on StayKedarnath and transfer money directly to them for a "discount", report them immediately to our safety team.
